East West Karate gathers European martial artists for Barretstown Benefit

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE —

Newcastle, U.K. —- On November 14th Martial Arts teachers from the U.K. and Ireland will conduct seminars for adults and children at St. Aidans Community Center, Brunton Park Estate, Gosforth, from 9 AM to 4 PM, for the benefit of Barretstown Castle. Barretstown improves the lives of children and their families affected by childhood cancer and other serious illnesses, rebuilding their confidence, trust, and self-esteem through therapeutic recreation.

Confirmed instructors, donating their expertise, include: Senior Instructor Liam Brady, Brady Kenpo Schools Ireland, Professor Andy Fitzgerald, American Kenpo Karate Peterborough, Gerry Lynch, Red Dragon Kenpo Karate Ireland, Bill McElhone, Taekwondo Scotland, Professor Tony Dunne, Dublin Kenpo Karate, Ian Atkinson, Kenpo Karate Leeds, Professor Diane Wheeler, Kenpo Karate London, Peter Woods, Kenpo Karate, Adam Merton, Kenpo Karate Peterborough, and Senior instructor Fran Holmes, Kenpo Karate, Dublin. In addition we have Miss Karen Wilde of Shotokan Karate and Stuart Lawson Tai Jutsu Instructor

Mr Kevin Mills Head of the BKKU along with his wife Jenni will also be attending the event.

Hosting the event is Mike Ilderton, Senior Instructor at East West Karate. Mike recently wrote WuDi and the Dragon Tree, a martial arts fable for children, which will be available Christmas 2010. Mr. Ilderton is also the U.K. Director for TheMALC. The Martial Arts Learning Community (TheMALC) is a not-for-profit agency providing various physical education services.

Barretstown Castle, part of the Paul Newman Foundation’s Hole in the Wall Gang charities, is The MALC preferred charity for 2009.
